Located just 9 kilometers from the bustling town of Krabi, Ban Nongkok School serves as a heart for its local community. As a volunteer, you will work alongside two dedicated English teachers to support 104 students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Your presence helps bridge the education gap, offering these young learners the confidence to speak English and the technical literacy required for a modern world.
You will move beyond textbooks by facilitating interactive role-play sessions and guiding students through hands-on computer exercises. Whether it is teaching children how to research topics online or helping them design their first multimedia presentation, your role is to inspire curiosity. By blending English vocabulary with IT exploration, you enable these students to discover information independently and express their ideas creatively.
Living in the scenic Ban Nongkok community allows you to immerse yourself in Southern Thai culture, where Buddhist and Muslim traditions blend seamlessly. Beyond your teaching hours, you will have the unique opportunity to explore the limestone cliffs of Krabi, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, or share a spicy local meal with your host community. This placement offers a genuine balance of meaningful educational work and unforgettable cultural discovery.
Volunteer Role
You will support primary classrooms by conducting oral English exercises, assisting students with computer hardware and software basics, and guiding them through internet research projects. Your daily tasks include preparing visual teaching materials, encouraging shy students to speak in English, and helping them structure presentations to share their findings with the class.
Impact Statement
Your daily guidance builds the foundational confidence students need to pursue higher education and global career opportunities. By teaching them to navigate the internet and communicate in English, you provide them with the digital tools to break through language barriers and access a world of knowledge beyond their village.
